What To Expect
Located in downtown Grand Rapids’ historic Heartside neighborhood and Arena District, Scholar embraces timeless old world charm with exemplary hospitality.
Parking
Enter Scholar at 11 Ionia Ave SW, Grand Rapids, MI 49503, one block east of the Van Andel Arena. Parking options include on street as well as nearby public parking lots & ramps. A convenient loading zone on southbound Ionia Avenue may be used for guests with mobility restrictions.
Attire
When you enter the historic front door of Scholar you will be greeted by our host who will escort you to one of our three levels, each with it’s own bar, dining area, and charm. We often observe our guests wearing business casual attire on the weeknights with a bit more formal dress on the weekends. To maintain a special experience, we just ask that you be comfortable, conscientious and dress for the occasion.
We can accommodate parties of up to 6 guests comfortably on any level of the building. Reservations are strongly recommend on weekends and we require parties of 8 or more to phone Scholar directly to speak with a service manager to book your table.

While it may be normal practice at many other restaurants, we never include gratuity on any check, no matter the number of guests. For our initial opening, we are focussed on our dine-in operations and will not be offering take-out orders. We are a business rooted in accommodation and gracious service, we will do everything to make sure you leave with a memorable experience.
